So.
I found out about a week ago (a week and a day, if I remember correctly) that I'm goint to France for ten months! Yay!
I decided I would keep a blog throughout the year (starting now, before I go) that I'm there and I intend to write here every day when I get there. This will also serve almost as my diary as I'm not the best diary keeper. This is also just so I can let off some steam and not scream at the host-family-to-be! I may not succeed but I'll do my best. I will also add pictures of friends, family and the town.
This blog is mostly for me so I can remember the whole experience when I come back, but also fro my friends so that they can see what I've been up to. Also, this is for anyone elst that cares for some reaso I can't comprehend. (:
Just a little about the host family I'm going to: (I won't include thir surnames for confidentiality's sake, I'll just call them the H's.)
St-Germain-en-Laye (that's where I'm going) is a small town in the suburbs of Paris, 19.1 km from the Parisian centre. The H's have four children, all girls (!), with only one of them living at home. My host-mother's name is Danièle and she is a retired officer in the army - scary. She likes reading, crafting, roller skating (which was misspelled, btw!), swimming and hiking. There is no mention of the father so I expect they are divorced or something. The oldest daughter is 29 and her name is Christelle. I love her name! Christelle works for the EDF (national electricity company). She has a dog named Nina. Emilie is 23 and the second oldest. She studies psychomotrict (something to do with psychology, don't ask me!) She's into yoga and readin and plays the guitare. Camille, 21, is studying to become a midwife. She likes volleyball and plays violin. Marie, 17 is in high school and is the same age as me. I'll be attending school with her. She's into archery (!), drawing, computers and sports in general.
That's all I know for now. I sent them and e-mail yesterday introducing myself and telling a little more about me, asking questions and thanking them for choosing me. They haven't replied yet. I wrote it mostly in English, but I tried to write some things in French too. I hope they can understand what it says! As I find out more about the family, school, etc. I'm going to add the info to this blog.
For now, peace-out.
