Day 117-119 - X-Mas Shopping Is Done and Chez Pauline

I was supposed to go to Pauline's on Monday, but I ended up having to cancel, once again, for whatever reason. I played being a geek for most of the day and loved it. It's what I do pretty much every day.

On Tuesday I actually made it to Pauline's! Finally. We had fun, doing nothing really. Michou was there too. I think he's cut his hair and it feels awsome to stroke it. Seriously, I have an obsession with guys' hair... Especially short hair. It feels so nice just to run your fingers through them. He didn't seem to mind, luckily. ^^

The way home, I though, would be a nightmare because of the strikes, but turns out it's really easy even with the strikes. A bit of waiting, though.. Not that I mind too much. I'm still not enjoying the strikes as it's hard enough trying to go to Pauline's as it is! She lives so far from me! :(

Today (well, yesterday) I finished my x-mas shopping!!!

I went with Camille to shop for the last items for x-mas and we did a little shopping, too. I have, finally, all my gifts taken care of!

For lunch we had fondue (<3)>

The rest of the day I've been on my computer. I also Skyped my family to wish them a merry x-mas and a happy new year, yadda-yadda-yadda... It was a good few hours spent talking Finnish. Bad Finnish, mind you! I'm not gonna be able to talk any when I get back! It's a little worrying. Maby I'll learn it again... Or then not. We'll have to wait and see.

For x-mas we're staying at home, but for the weekend we're going to Danièle's sister's house for a few days. They live further in the South I believe. They have slow internet and no telly...! I will have nothing to do!I may just die of boredom...... :S I'll download a lot of music and movies before I go so I'll have something to do! They do have a SAUNA, though! I'm not sure what kind, but I'm looking forward to it!

Day 115-116 - B-Day de Danièle and La Soirée

One thing I forgot to mention in my last blog was that we had a soirée on Thursday evening at school. The evening started at 1930 with a spectacle. Marie and I were still at home at this point and were told about it when we got to school a little later on, after 2100 for the dancing.

The school had arranged a disco/club -type of scenario with students DJing. It was sympa. The music didn't have enough of a beat for my liking, but it was nice enough. I hardly recognised any of them as they were, comme d'habitude, French.

I had a great time, although it was missing something. Marie and I had to leave at 2300 as Danièle was coming to pick us up. I was sad, but what can you do. The soirée lasted until after midnight I believe and it would've been great to stay until the end, but that's life.

We saw Joachim as we were leaving and he ended up, unfortunately, walking us all the way to the car. I'm not a fan of his, along with a number of other people in my class I've noticed. He's just... I dunno. He just is. Nobody really likes him I don't think..

Tomorrow is Danièle's birthday so she held a party last night. Marie and I spent the evening at Émilie and Boris' apartment, watching telly and in my case sleeping. I fell asleep on the couch for some strange reason. I wasn't at all tired before but I ended up asleep in front of the telly.. First time in a LONG time I believe. We returned around midnight and I hit the sack as soon as I got in.

Today we had a birthday lunch for Danièle. Émilie and Boris came over and we spent an hour eating. It was delicious, though. We had Pina Coladas with appetisers. It was a bit on the strong side, but good all the same.

I was supposed to go and see Pauline today, but the damn RER is still on strike! In the words of Pauline : " les francais sont tres lazy donc ils ont inventer la greve -_-'''' ". This was a direct quote from her reply to me saying I'd not be able to make it. I agree with her in a sense. But that's life. You can't always get what you want. :(

Day 111-115 - Umm.. Nothing's Happened.. Oh, Wait, It SNOWS In FRNACE

Tuesday evening's sports class was different to the one we usually have, especially towards the enf. For one thing there was practically no-one there! I think it's because the holiday's are so near that people aren't bothered any more. Or are sick.

The end of the class was so much fun, though. We paired up and gave a massage to our partner, using a ball as a tool. It felt SO good! I didn't want to get up at the end of it! After we stretched a little, which was also nice, but my muscles were a sore from the day before! It felt so good to stretch them! I had been walking a bit funny all day, and every time anyone touched my shoulders I would protest with a cry of "Ca fait mal!". Kevin seemed to enjoy showing people how sore people's muscles were, especially if they hadn't been in class or had been in the other group. I was test subject numero uno. I did live through it. It wasn't too bad unless someone forgot and gave me a hug! (Read Pauline/Clémentine)

Right before I left school we saw a fire in the kitchen! They had been making fries for dinner that night, but had ended up burning the kitchen down instead! The fire alarm system, of course, didn't work! Luckily everyone went outside of their own accord and didn't panic. Marie and I left before the fire brigade got there, but we heard them driving past as we walked to the bus stop.

Wednesday was yet again worse than the day before. I had double the pain, as my muscles were hurting all over, not just my arms and legs, but also my abs, back and arse. Thankfully it was a short day!

After a not-so-filling lunch of salad I went in search of Kevin as I'd promised to hang out with him after school. We went up to his room where we played poker, pretty much all the way up until 1730 when I left, with his friends. (I didn't want to get in too late.)

I had so much fun, but Kevin did point out that I wasn't too talkative and I agree, but the thing is I understand, but to answer I have to think about my response a bit more than when I'm just listening. I will try to be more talkative, though. He is completely right. (P.S. one word : squat)

That morning the fire brigade had been called in, yet again, as one of the kitchen staff had decided it would be and interesting week to give himself a huge cut on his hand. In France the fire brigade is called in first, before anything else. I find it strange and wonderful at the same time. It's fascinating and I don't understand it.

I was extremely tired after returning home and I hit the sack pretty much right after having eaten dinner. I slept SOOO well that night for some reason.

On Thursday my muscles had almost completely healed, so all was well. I was still tired, although well rested.

We had an Agro. Équipement exam, which I totally failed. I believe I will get three points or so max, as I answered none of the questions on the paper. On the other hand I did label the little schéma that we had. I feel that went pretty well.

We had no sports as it had snowed during the night! I mean, really snowed. It had snowed all day, pretty much and there was a food five cm of snow on the ground. And there still is! There were snow fights all around and some went sledging (including Kevin who got a cut that runs down the side of his nose all the way to his chin. It doesn't look too bad, but it has a scab now and looks worse than it is.

On Friday we had practically no lessons. We only had an hour of History in the morning and we watched the end of a film for an hour and a half right after lunch. It was a very chill day. I was glad as it was the last day of school for crying out loud!

Today has been really uneventful. I was chatting with a friend online but that's all. I WAS supposed to do something with Kevin but he had a bad hangover so we're going to take a rain check on that some other, better suited time.

I'm still panicking about what to get Marie. I have no idea. On the other hand Danièle told me exactly what she wants, a plant for the garden. It's not too expensive so that'll be my Christmas present for her!

Day 103-110 - Kevin and It's Almost Christmas, Panic!

Last Monday ports was cancelled as the teacher was away. I still find it slightly odd that there is no lesson if the teacher is absent. I'm used to having a substitute come in to do the lesson. But I do love perm (read skips), so I'm a happy gal!

On Tuesday both Émilie and I were too tired to do sport, so we skipped. I was about to leave, when I realised the time. It was too late to make it.. Not that I'm too bothered! It would've been long jump, which I'm not too keen on as a general rule.

On Wednesday we had no basketball practice, but I stayed in school after lunch non-the-less. I like hanging out at school.. It's more entertaining than at home. I like living here and everything, but it's so much more fun to be around friends than by yourself. I don't enjoy watching telly too much, unlike Marie, so I generally stay in my room, on the computer or then I'm in the living room, on the computer. It depends.

I don't think anything happened on Thursday, really. We had no sports again. I was kinda sad as I love basketball. But then again perm isn't too bad either! Plus Kevin was skipping rugby, so that was fun.

Friday was a short day as there were parent-teacher meetings after school. Well, we ended at 1120, so not really after school..

I had lunch with Kevin and some of his friends instead of the "usual" crowd. Kevin isn't in my class, but he may as well be as he hangs out there during half the breaks. We've gotten pretty close in the past few weeks and I enjoy spending time with him. He's really laid back and chill about everything. Figures, since he listens to reggae and all.

He has long hair, roughly to his shoulders, brown eyes, a little lighter than mine, a beard (which I love, btw, its nice and kinda prickly and when he gives me a hug/bisous it tickles just the slightest) and he's a head taller than me. He's really nice and cuddly and friendly.

After lunch I met up with Pauline and we arranged it so that I went to her house instead of going home.

We didn't actually do very much at her house. We watched telly and that's about it. But we had fun! I love it hat her house. It's really cosy (her dad's, but her mum's is kinda chic and I love it too!). We did go shopping for something for the school disco-thing we have on Thursday. The theme is flashy et fluo. I have nothing flashy, or neon! So I get to buy something.. We found nothing, so we returned empty handed. Not that it matters much, neither of us had any money!

I was texting with Kevin all the while. He was bored at the parent-teacher conference. The teachers were running an hour late..

I got home really late that night, around nine as the RER A line (to our house) is on strike. I hate strikes. The French, on the other had seem to like them! So I sat on a figging bus for an hour and a half just to get home for fuck's sake! But I got there in the end, tired but happy enough.

On Saturday we were supposed to go and see a movie, but it was cancelled. So Pauline, Michou and I went shopping. For something for la soirée. We found a bunch of neon jewellery at Claire's. I got neon yellow laces and neon earrings. Kevin found a neon pink and a neon yellow bandanna that he gave to me this afternoon after lunch. They're friggin awsome. Perfect for the soirée!

Around nine or so we went to get Saara from an RER station a little further away form us. I've mentioned Saara before. She's one of the other exchange students form Finland. She slept over and we had so much fun just chatting (in Finnish for a change!). We stayed up until one in the morning before we got tired and went to bed.

We had to wake up pretty early (for a Sunday!) as Saara was meeting her dad in Paris around midday. He's here on a business trip and they'd arranged to meet up. I think it was a good idea, especially as she's changing families as soon as possible. She needs her parents' support.

The rest of the day I just did whatever. I couldn't go to the movies with Pauline as there were no buses or trains to Cergy!! It was so annoying!

Today we had musculation for sport. I was happy as we were inside and we weren't doing any running, with the exception of the "run around the rugby field", which five people did while the rest of us watched. I thought it hilarious that Kevin managed to smoke a cigarette and run at the same time. He did soon stop, but all the same. It just goes against all that sports is for, health! But it was kind of comical. We walked back most of the way, but ran the last fifty/hundred meters (down hill!) back inside. It was cheating but it was COLD outside! Plus we've done enough running in my opinion!

We had this exercise where we had to do a lot of jumping (I assume it was a warm-up) over benches and obstacles. It's pretty tiring but quite fun. After we had some exercises with the weight lifting bar with 5 kg on both ends. So altogether it was about 18-20 kg we were lifting.

There were a few insane guys in our group (Kevin, Julian, Charles and Joachim) who lifted the bar with 20 kg on both ends - that makes almost 50 kg! Insane I tell you! I didn't even bother to try as I was struggling with the five on both ends!I just watched in awe.

I'm starting to panic about buying the last gifts for people! And sending the last package to Finland!! I hate Christmas! Well, just the panicking about what to get people. I still need gifts for Marie and her mum, Christelle,  Kevin, Clémentine and Chloé. We're splitting the gifts for Émilie and Boris and Camille.  It's much better as I have no idea about what to get them! So that's sorted. (:

I'll do some last minute shopping this week after school or something. But I have no ideas, really! Wish me luck!

Day 96-102 - Basketball and Breaking

Monday morning we had the last running lesson/class for sport! FINALLY! We had this test where we ran, in 45 seconds, to a cone 100m away, walked, in 15 secs, to a cone 5 meters away, ran back to the starting line, waited 15 secs and ran to the third cone, another 5 meters away. This is a test to see how fit you are or something. I made it to the eighth cone. I was second to stop. Almost all the other girls stopped at the ninth cone, but the guys continued for another ten or so cones! It's insane the amount the guys can run. Tomorrow we have long jump.. Not looking forward to it, but it is better than running! :D

That evening Émilie and I had muscle training and stretching. I wasn't too tired, luckily, as it wasn't the easiest session we've had! I loved it, though. I was knackered afterwards and pretty much went straight to bed.

Tuesday morning was hell getting up. I was sore all over, but I managed to make it to school and survive just fine. I'd soon forgot about the muscle pain when I got to chatting with friends and during classes when I had to listen. Unless I had to walk up/down stairs.

When I got home I found Danièle's sister, Nichole, was visiting. She's very kind and fun to be around. They don't look too much alike, but there is a certain resemblance.

The same evening Émilie called to day she was too tired to come to sports with me, so I went alone. There was practically no one there! Only a few others, say 10, the teacher and I. I was surprised as usually the room is packed with people.

This week it was muscle training. I found it not as tiring as I would have before. It was hard, but I could manage to do all the exercises, with the exception of two, the side plank and something that resembled it, that I don't recall the name of. Next time I will do all of them, and even better. You also have to note that my muscles were still sore form the previous night, so I thought I did really well, even without considering. I slept well that night.

On Wednesday, after school we had a basketball match and oh, my God was it tiring! We played for about 30-40 mins each, so that was tiring. Plus I haven't played a real game in God knows how long! I loved it though, and I'm going to start going to the practices on Wednesdays.

After the match I walked home. It took less than 20 mins from the place to my house. But it started raining, and I got wet. Not that it mattered anyway, I hit the shower as soon as I walked in the door. After the shower it was a drag trying to stay awake. I was so tired. It was only 4 p.m.! Imagine. I still had 3-4 hours until dinner!

I literally hit the sack right after dinner, a bit after eight! First time since I was say 8/9.I slept a good 9 hours that night. I was tired on Thursday morning, though, waking up. I could so easily have stayed in bed.

On Thursday we had basketball for sport! I was still aching from Monday and Tuesday, plus add the match the day before I was ready to die! But I held on and I managed to make a few shots during the games.

I've realised, with the help of Marion L., that I'm not very good at shooting hoops during practice, but I can take a shot during a game. I really suck during practices half the time! It's so annoying and frustrating. I hate it and I'm determined to get better! I wish we had a hoop and a ball in our backyard. I mean a swimming pool is pretty useless during the winter! In the summer/spring/autumn even it's heaven and everything, but I still wish we had a hoop..

Friday went by. We watched a video in Agronomy, which was cool. We were supposed to take notes during it, but I gave up after the first two minutes. It's still not easy, French!

On Saturday I found out that Camille had come over for a visit. We went shopping with her and Émilie. I got a few presents (for myself and two others). I still have no idea about a present for Danièle or Marie. I have an idea for Émilie and Boris (they both like chocolate and Nutella..) along with Camille (who also loves chocolate!). I have some gift ideas for friends, but I have no idea how many to get! I'm thinking I'm only getting for the closest people I know, so that makes it three I believe. I also need presents for my parents, a sister and five friends.. Oh my god this is HARD! I hate Christmas! Noël, c'est de la merde! But before Christmas there is Danièle's birthday! Plus after Christmas there is the birthday of Marie. Oh my God, I may as well curl up under a rock and die!

Yesterday there was a concert I really wanted to go to, but Danièle wouldn't let me as it wasn't in the best part of town. I'd had it all planned out (as she'd told me the day before that I could go) that I was going to hang out with Antoine V. and his friends, as Pauline was too sick to come with me. :( Next time!

Today, Sunday, I've been trying to do some freezes, but not exactly succeeding. I've killed my wrists and feet though, trying to do them, so all's good! I will keep practising and I will succeed in doing the baby freeze today! For real.

Day 89-95 - Only the interesting bits

So this week went by pretty uneventfully. Tuesday was school, Wednesday went by uneventfully as we had no basketball practice. It starts this coming week, so I'm looking forward to that.

Thursday I played Traot with some new people. It was fun, but I can't remember their names. I think one was Marie, but the other girl I have no idea..

On Friday morning these two girls I've seen around school came up to me in the first hour (we had a skip..) and asked me to correct one of their English homeworks. I agreed, naturally. The couldn't find John, they told me, so they asked me instead. It was pretty good already, no major mistakes and a few missing words, but that's ok.

We had three hours (altogether) of Agronomy that day. I was talking with Antoine V. and Chloé who both sit behind me. We had and interesting conversation about vegetarianism. Chloé is extremely vegetarian and finds even the smell/sight of it disgusting. I, on the other hand, don't find it disgusting at all. I just choose not to eat it. Ethical and tastual (not a word, but now it is! It means the taste..) reasons.

I also played sudoku all three hours. Antoine threatened to tell on me but he never did. I guessed he wouldn't. He's nice that way.

The last lesson, after lunch, I stole his scarf. And I almost walked out with it but he made me give it back. He had my bag (looking very, uh, sexy(?) with it. Not really. It's way too girly for any guy to pull it off) and walked out the room with it. Then he came back looking for his scarf. I was sad because it was so warm! Plus, even though he smokes, it doesn't smell! Surprising, but in a good way!

This weekend we had no homework. So I've done nothing for the past two days. I have read, downloaded music and been on the net all weekend. I'm sad as it's a bit boring.

I did watch a French film, La Haine (Hate), last night. Well, it was 23:30 when I started and two hours later I was getting ready for bed. Antoine had it in school on Thursday and he mentioned it was the best French movie ever. And Olivier confirmed. I do have to agree it was very good. Somewhat like Kidulthood. It tells about a day in the life of three guys living in the ghettos of Paris. It was very good and I recommend seeing it. I wish I could download it or something. It's on YouTube, but it's in parts sand I don't want to download it in parts.

Tomorrow we have sports and I hope we're done with running. I'm not convinced, though.. :(

Day 87-88 - Ciné (encore) and Skips

I woke up on Sunday morning thinking it'd be just another lazy Sunday. It was until after lunch when I was on the computer chatting to Pauline. She mentioned she was going to see New Moon later that day. I said, (more or less) jokingly, "moi aussi", expecting an mdr or xD. Instead I got a time and place.

After confirming with Danièle I pretty much headed out the door so I would make it in time. I did and we had to wait for over an hour for the doors to open so we could get in.

I was laughing at inappropriate parts in the film. The acting was extremely bad, but that made it funny. Plus Taylor Lautner had his shirt off for half the movie. Along with the rest of the "wolf pack".

I found the first movie a good interpretation of the film, but the second to be a complete and utter mess. I wasn't loving it.

Today I would normally have had sports, but I had to go to the nurse as I had a really bad stomach ache. The nurse is really chatty and kind. She chatted a lot. I was just there for medicine and I thought I would go to sports after, but she kept chatting and I didn't make it by a mile. The bus had left over 15 mins before I got out of her office. So I had a double skip.

There were some others who'd missed the bus and I joined them.

We played Tarot for a change after lunch. xD

We'd normally have had Information, but the teacher wasn't in, so I had another skip. Plus we got to go home an hour earlier than normal, as he's also the Maths teacher.

For English (we) had the rest of the presentations on the CIA of FBI, etc. (I didn't have one as the teacher didn't ask me to prepare one..)

While the others were working I had a chat with Olivier. He said he was ok but clearly he wasn't. So I demanded why not. After hesitating for a while he told me he was tired form working all weekend and that the other reason was to do with his gf. I didn't pressure him any more (can be very annoying, let me tell you, when people do that!).

Today I'd normally have sports but Émilie was too tired and I have a head ache, so no sports for me today. I may do some sit ups or something to "make up" for missing all sport today, but we'll see.

Tomorrow we have Step in the evening and I have no "school". Instead I'll be helping out in the stables... Um, yay?

Nov 21, 2009

Day 86 - Ciné and CDs

Today I wnt to see The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. To my surprise and delight it was the original version and therefor in ENGLISH! I understood the whole movie for a change! That hasn't happened in a while. :D

Buying the ticket I realised I'd forgotten my passport at home (you get 5€ off if you have proof that you're under 26!), but luckily the guy at the counter accepted my school ticket-thing. I wasn't sure if he would, but he was nice enought to do so. Plus he was pretty hot. xD

I enjoyed the movie enormously. The storyline was a little strange and some of the others (I went with Pauline, Michou, Anotine A., Jordan, Céline, Anaïse and Marie V.) found it strange/didn't really understand. I think it was because it was in English. So did Jordan. But everyone seemedt to have enjoyed themselves, which is good.

Pauline finally got around to giving me the Tryo CDs I've been waiting for. I'm loving all four them! U'm just ripping them so I can listen to them on my iPod. <3>

Loving Tombé Mal and La Main Verte right now.

Day 79-85 - Long Break Yet No News

Imma start writing every week instead of every two days. I have too much going on during the week.

This week I believe I went to Pauline's on Saturday to finish off our herbarium. It turned out pretty good. Plus we had a lot of fun! I love her house (she was staying at her mum's). It's fantastically decorated, a little hippy-style, which is nice. I love the toilet, especially. When you get in through the door you have to walk down a corridor (ok, four or so steps) to get to the bowl. It's also beautifully decorated. Her mum decorated it. Tiles and everything.

Pauline's mum is very nice and kind and she's into bio and natural foods. She's also a fantastic cook. I had one of the best lentil stew while I was there! Trop bon!

On Sunday I was just lazing around, doing nothing if I recall correctly (and I believe I do).

Monday was back to school and back to work, just like Tuesday.

On Wednesday after school Manon, Blondine, Pauline, Clémentine and I went to Carrefour (which, btw, means crossroads or junction!) to get some stuff for people (I bought a Burn energy drink). Afterwards we, Blondine and I, went Decathlon, a sports shop, to find weights for Blondine. We looked for ages but eventually found some suitable ones. I bought a skipping rope. :D

Next we went next door to another Decathlon. They have two next to each other. Strange, I know, but whatever.

There we found Heelys, the shoes with wheels on the back. I tried them on (obviously!) and attempted to roll forwards, failing miserably and ending up on the floor, unable to stop laughing.

We looked at rollerskates next, the kind with four wheels, two next to each other. I trued them on, too, but I couldn't make it work! It's physically impossible, I tell you! I also tried on another, normal, pair of rollerskates. I went around the shop, finally succeeding at something that day!

I had to try the Heelys on again as we passed them. I succeeded a little better this time and managed not to fall on my arse again! Pretty much soon after that we left the shop and went our seperate ways.

Thursday morning we had basketball, but the bus driver never showed up and we had to have the class in the basketball court in the middle of hte school. During break we had spectators. I forgot about them as soon as the game started. We won, we lost and we won again. I thought it was funny when the teacher told me to take it easy. I don't play rough, far from it. It's the other girls that keep bumping into me! I'm serious. I play by the rules (95% of the time anyway!). I loved it and I joined the school basketball team along with Lucile and Marion.

I don't know what got into Antoine V. today, but when he saw me this morning he pronounced my name in a way a Spanish person might, rolling the 'r' in both my names. It was hilarious. He continued for most of the day, well the double skip we had before the first test.

We played Tarots again for a change (not). I'm loving the game, even when I don't win.

Today we had two tests, French and Economy. I failed miserably in both. But the Economy teacher doesn't count my score, so I'm not graded and I think the French teacher doesn't either.

School ended at 1435 today, which I was happy about as I' still extremely tired! Imma get some grub in my tummy now, so until next week at the latest! Bsxx

Day 75-78 - Fun Fair and School

We had a biology exam after lunch on Tuesday. I wasn't enjoying the hour and 35 minutes much, but I didn't stress too much. I'll se how I did on Tuesday I wxpect. It was very hard and quite long. I had to leave some questions blank as I didn't understand them, but the ones I understood I wrote as much as I could. And as well as I could explain myself in French.

On Tuesday evening I would normally have had sports, but Émilie's ferret had eaten chocolate the previous night and Émily had been up the whole night, taking her to the vet. So she was too tired to come and I didn't want to go by myself.. So I, too, skipped it. I was very tired in any case.

Wednesday we had no school. I was so greatful for the little break form working! I went to the fun fair again with Pauline, Michou, Antoine A. and Céline. It was fun but none of us had too much money, so we went on two rides. But it was awsome. Afterwards, around six we went to the shopping centre near by to buy some snacks, energy drinks (Burn) and sweets (Haribo's Dragibus). I bought nothing, but Pauline and Antoine did and they were kind enough to share with the rest of us. Hanging out with them is a lot of fun and I love it. They (excl. Céline) make fun of me (jokingly) about my accent and me being so "quiet". I take it as a joke and don't pay too much attention unless someone says it's mignon, cute in French. It's mostly Pauline and Clémentine who do that at school, but I can live with it. Plus apparently I say j'adore funny, according to Pauline and Olivier who "mimic" me saying it. I just give them a slap on the thigh/arm.. And I'm not denying it and I almost always agree, but it gets annoying to hear it over and over again.

Yesterday was school again and everyone was happy we only had four days of school this week. Everyone was looking forward to the weekend. Not a very interesting day if I recall correctly. We had basketball and our team won all the mini games we played. And apparently I played well, again. I'm glad. I haven't been able to go to the after school to the basketball sessions as I wasn't in school for a few Wednesdays before the holiday and when I was there he wasn't, so no training session. I'm hoping I'll remember to enroll next week and that there is a training session.

I think I also playes a few rounds of Tarot yesterday..

Last night Michou sent me some music. He's got good taste. He sent me dance music/electronic/house/stuff with a beat. Loves it. <3

Today we had Agro Equipment. Most of the class arrived two minutes late and the teacher wouldn't let us in, so we had to walk all the way back up to la vie scolaire to get a "late" slip. Turns out they refuse to give them unless you're over 10 mins late. So we walked all the way back down (it's not held in school, the class). He had a surprise quiz for us. I didn't understand, so I wrote nothing. Oh well.

Actually, we were late as we left too late (I was playing Tarot with Antoine V., Jojo (Joachim) and Clémentine), when the bell rang.

We had Geo after, boring and hard. Then French. I'm not liking the teacher too much. I guess she's nice enough, but whatever.

After lunch I played Tarots again with Antoine, Olivier, Jojo and Morgane. We listened to good music and played. It's the best case scenario in my oppinion. I love it. In the middle of a game the Agronomy teacher came in and we had to stop. Today's class was all right. We had to have a wrapper of a food product with us and write down some info form the ingredients. I didn't ask much help from anyone and I was proud when I finished. Now I just hope it's correct!

After that we got to go hooooooome! It was only 1435. I have a love/hate relationship with Fridays at the moment. I love that we end early, but I hate not having anything to do Friday nights. It's boring watching TV and being on the computer all afternoon and day. The thing is everyone I know lives far away and can't really do anything after school. And I'm not bothered to do any school work right after school. I'm just that lazy. I leave it to the last minute. I'll do the work for next week tomorrow or, more likely, Sunday as tomorrow I'll be at Pauline's finishing the Herbarium for Tuesday. We also have a French essay I have to do and notes for Physics (she makes us make notes out of notes, it's unbelievable!), some maths (I'm guessing) and that's about it I think. Oh, and I have to read a French play.

I should get started on reading the play.. It looks boring.

Day 74 - Running and Tarot

Waking up at six thirty is torture but it has to be done! :( And trying to put contacts on is even harder! In the morning at least, but it, too, has to be done.

We had running first thing this morning, but it was freezing and I didn't finish the last round. Too hard. I made it almost half way when it was just too much. So I gave up. Ah, well. I wasn't the only one.

I'm in love with jue de Tarot and I played plusieurs (I can't think of the word in English! Something along the lines of more than one) games today and Antoine asked if I liked the game. I said hell yes and meant it! It's addicting. It was strange not having Olivier play as well, as he usually plays with us, but he had "service" at the stables today. Everyone gets to (has to!!) do it for one day. I have it in a few weeks.. I'm a bit nervous as I have no idea what to expect. The language barrier will be hard, too. But I'll manage.

Today during Economics and French I couldn't stop laughing. Neither could Clémentine or Pauline. It was crazy. Plus I was texting with Michou. He has unlimited texting and I'm extremely jealous! I can't get it as it's more expensive than now and the deal is for at least a year, usually two. :( So I decided 20€/month should be enough (hopefully!).

On Wednesday we have the day off, so we're going top the fun fair again. AWSOMMMEEEE! Not exactly sure whose coming. I know Michou and Pauline, probably Céline, Antoine A. and Jordan, and perhaps Tiana, Anaïse and Marie V. Plus Joachim is coming, I think. Should be a bunch of fun. I'm just kind of running out of money.. Gotta stop spending!

This evening Émilie and I had spert today and we were both very happy with the result afterwards. We were both tired yet very happy. Endorphins anyone?

Now I'm off to take a shower and die. Night! Bsxx

Day 70-73 - School, Pétanque, Fun Fair and Camille

I barely slept a wink Wednesday-Thursday night. I went to bed just after 11 p.m. but I couldn't fall asleepuntil around 1 a.m., after hours of tossing and turning. I also woke up twice before my alarm rang. It was frustrating to be tired on the first day back.

We got to school early (8 a.m., school starts 0830) like usual, so there was a lot of waiting. And huggung and bisous

I decided to stay for the Spanish lesson that afternoon, too. It was more interesting than when they were correcting tests. That was SOOO boring.

I can't breathe. I'm running as fast as I can, but I won't make it, I just know it. But I keep running. I look over my shoulder to see Marie is walking and signal at her to keep running. She does.

When I look back the bus has stopped at the red light. We could make it if the light stays red for five more seconds! But it doesn't. We stop, breathless, and walk back to the bus stop. I curse after the bus, Marie looks amused. I hate missing busses.

Thankfully the  next one comes soon after. We needn't wait long for it.

We got to school a little later than normal, 10 past 8. It was strange to have so many people already there brfore us. Usually there are maby three others before us.

The first lesson we had was a skip and we palyed a round of Tarot for a change. I haven't actually played it for a while so it felt good. Nothing interesting happened again until Francais. For one thing we got our tests back. The teacher didn't mark mine (thankfully, as it was analysing a poem!). The best in the class was a 12/20! It was insanely hard and long, the test was.

Around half way through the first lesson I heard a lot of commotion behind me to the left and turned around to see Vincent, Antoine V. and Olivier playing pétanque on their table. With juggling balls. It was HILARIOUS. They continued for the whole lesson. I think they also played some table "football", using the lid of a gluestick as the "ball" for a while. The guys are extremely entertaining.

During the break they moved onto the floor to play pétanque. A lot of people crowded around to watch. It was hilarious to watch them fight over who won. They even got the ruler out at one point. Bloody funny, I tell you. I wish I'd filmed some of it. I believe Manon did. Maby I'll ask for the video form her.

For lunch the day before the day before yesterday I had practically nothing as the chef forgot that I didn't eat fish. So I had two little baguettes, a yoghurt and about five clementines. The day before yesterday was better. Potato slices and spinach. We had bananas, too, so I donated mine to John, who, btw, came to school late. He wouldn't tell me why, or what he did over the holiday. Now I'm curious!

Marie's mum came to pick us up. I was puzzled but went along with it. Turns out we were going shopping for Camille's present. I didn't know it was her birthday, so I didn't have a present and I didn't know what to buy her. I did end up buying a few presents for people, though. I'm sending them as soon as  I can. Tomorrow I hope!

I also ended up buying a iPod Touch 64GB! <3<3>interwebs with it and listening to music. I believe it's a good investment! I mean it was expensive, but I'll have it for a loooooong time! The only thing about it that I don't like is thaat you need iTunes for it..

Waking up before 10 during the weekend for me is hell. I love to sleep in. I had to do so on Saturday as I was going to the fun fair that afternoon with a number of people : Pauline, Antoine A., Michou, Céline, Jordan and Lauren, whi I met when I got there. First we had to go get money for myself and Céline so we walked across the fun fair and to the Cergy Préf. shopping centre. Michou and Antoine were fighting/arguing most of the way and whenever Michou was about to say something, a chorus of "te gueule, Michael!" would burst out from three or so mouthes. These people are hilarious. I love them to bits! I've only met them twice now, but they're fantastic and I love hanging out with them.

On the way back we saw smoke coming from the general direction we were heading in. We walked closer and smelled burning gasoline. There was a car on fire right outside the shopping centre. It was pretty cool to see the flames and the smoke. It was like something out of a movie, really. The flames, the people crowding around, the smoke. The smell was pretty bad and got worse as we walked closer. We didn't stop and stare like most of the other people did, we kept ewalking towards the fun fair.

Once we got there we pretty much got on a ride as soon as we got there. It was about 4€/ride, so I only went of five (that's the most anyone got on). But it was so much fun. We walked for a while after some of the rides and at one point we bought Chi Chi's. I'd never heard of them before and I think they might be French. It's basically just flour and water mixed into a dough and deep fried rolled in sugar. Bloody delicious.

The rides there were awsome and pretty much worth the money. We had a great time, but we had to get going pretty early in order to make it to the movie we were going to afterwards. I realised I'd forgotten to tell Daniéle I was going to a movie after, so I texted her telling her I'd be home by 9.30 pm latest. She's really laid back about me going out with friends, thankfully, so she said it was ok.I would've died if she'd said no.

Before getting on the RER to the cinema we bought snacks. Antoine, Michou and I got the crisps and they were surprised that I was vegetarian when I pointed out I didn't eat barbecue crisps. Michou tried to argue the point that they were chemically made flavourings, but I told him I didn't like the taste, which isn't strictly a lie. I don't like the smell of meat anymore (it makes me a bit nauseaus), so I'm guessing I wouldn't like the taste either.

We had to run for the train as some of us (Antoine and Pauline) didn't have tickets for the train. We made it there with minutes to spare. We actually had to wait five or so minutes for the train.

We got on and we got off two stops later and quickly made out way to the cinema, meeting Anaïse on the way there. We got in line and got the tickets. We were already late for the movie, around 15 mins I believe.

The film was something French and I didn't really understand much except that it was set in a hospital and someone wanted someone dead and these two guys were looking for another guy who had been in an accident that was now being reported live and the hospital staff were all slutty nurses who didn't take crap from anyone. There was a guy with a panda costume at one point and this fat guy kept showing up everywhere. It was strange and no one got it. We left in the middle. At some point Tiana had joined us and Pauline had had to leave (her stp mother's b-day). We (well, Antoine was) were entering another theatre when the security guard came to throw us out. We all blame Antoine. Not that I mind that much.. It's less than five euros if you're inder 26 and have ID on you. I also got a member's card for free. Cool, eh?

After the movie we split up in two groups, one taking the train (Tiana, Jordan and I) and the rest waiting for a ride form Antoine's dad, I believe.

It made it home for eight. I was gutted, but I'd had a great day all the same! Daniéle and Sandrine (her best friend) had gone to get McDonalds. I ate an apple and a prece of bread a little later on. I wasn't particularly hungry after all the snacks and energy drinks.

Today there was a lunch in honour of Camille's birthday. I didn't have a gift but I assured her, against her will, that I'd get her one for next time she was here. And I think I have a good gift in mind. I have a bottole of red wine in my cupboard that was a gift form Saara, but we never got around to drinking it, and some chocolate. Camille loves chocolate. Just like Boris, who I haven't seen in ages. The last time was for just a few seconds while he was passing by. I forgot how funny he was!

The rest of the day went by with me surfing on the net (iPod mostly) and watching TV. I did finish my Agronomy project that's for tomorrow. I'm pretty happy with it. It's seven pages including everything, title page, summary and sources.

Tomorrow's school and I have no idea if I have running or if we change to muscle training (I'm hoping for option two!).

Day 63-69 - Shopping and Part-ay and Exercise

My alarm rang at what felt like the crack of dawn on Thursday morning. It was 07:30. I hit the snooze button and snoozed for another fifteen minutes or so after which I stumbled to the shower in the dark. It didn't seem like a very good day for shopping, I thought, as it was cloudy and it looked rather cold out.But it was the only free day Émily had, so shopping seemed like the natural way to spend time with the family, I guess. And I do agree.

Émily arrived just before nine a.m. and seemed extremely tired. Everyone did. I, on the other hand, after the shower, felt cheerful like always. Always a good thing, eh?

The ride to Troyes took three hours. I was expecting maximum an hour's ride, but I was in for a surprise.

It went surprisingly fast adn we only stopped once, for a toilet break (Daniéle)  sfter which Marie drove most of the rest of teh way to Troyes, while I was nodding off in the back seat, listening to music. I've noticed that my family only listens to music in the car, really. Marie occasionally listens to music (with headphones, and very quietly) while doing homework, but that really is it. Back to Marie. She's getting better at the speed thing. She still drives too slow, but I guess that's better than too fast before she gets her drivers license.

Once we got there I was amazed at the number of shops, designer shops, were squeezed into one place. There wa Calvin Klein and Swarkovsk outletsi among Mango and Nike. It's the most fantastic place to go shopping! There were a lot of sales from already lower priced items, for example four pairs of Calvin Klein undies for 20€. Normally it would've been closer to 40. I got a Nike bag foe 28€ and a Reebok T-shirst for 10, among a LOAD of other things! I bought close to 100€ worth of clothes form there! All clothes that I needed (except for one knit I could have technically lived without buying. I payes all in cash, so I knew exactly how much I'd spent.

It felt rather fantastic trying on all the clothes and somehow satisfying, too, to know I could buy them. We spent most of the day walking around in shops, trying things on and messing about. It was one of the best times I've had here so far!

After it started to get dark, we left and drove a half an hour away where there are malls with more shops. It was dak by the time we got there and we spent an hour or so in one of the many malls there. I got a further 50 or so € worth of clothes. I bought pjs (shirt and shorts), awsome trousers and a T-shirt. I'm extremely happy with the day's shopping. We spent most of the time at the mall in at a lingere shop looking and trying on different bras and (in my case) pjs.

During the long way home I tried sleeping, but It wasn't very comfortable, so I just listened to music the whole way and day dreamed (well, it was nine by the time we got home, so it was evening dreaming).

When we got home I took all ten or so bags to my room to see th catch of the day. I felt pleased, as I need to do no shopping for a while! Even though I sincerely love it..! There's a downside to shopping, which is the money it consumes without you noticing. Then you realise you have no money! It's a horrible thing to realise.

On Friday I believe I did nothing. Oh, no, I lie. On Friday I left at 10 a.m. to catch the RER to Paris and another RER to Cergy Préfecture to Pauline's house. I was very tired as I woke up "early" in order to get to Pauline's for 1130. The train ride was easy and I got there in less than an hour (starting form the station here, not my house).

Pauline came to pick me up from the station. She lives a 10-15 min walk form the station. The station is attached to a mall, I found out. We planned to go shopping after we were done with the work (herbarium) I was there to do. We walked the short way to her house, chatting all the while, mostly about the up comming party the next night.

We arrived at her house and met her dad chatting with a neighbour. He reminds me of her a littel. Or, I guess it should be the other way around. But yeah. He's very nice and knows a lot about history and geography. It's pretty freaky when he pulls out a number of random facts form out of nowhere. But pretty cool. His English is also pretty good. Very good for a French man. I now see where Pauline gets her language skills from.

The first thing we did, really was try to hook me up on the internet, without success. The next thing we did was eat. Pauline made soup, gnocchi and an omelette for her and her dad. Delicious. I love gnocchi. The soup was delicious, too.

After lunch we got to work. We found all the plants that we needed to on the internet. Pauline had been to the movies the previous day so she had a bag of sweets left over that we almost finished. Too good!

I wrote everything while Pauline watched TV and researched the info (too hard for me for now!). While we were working Pauline's step-mum came home. She's a big lady who seemed very kind and nice. We didn't get much of a chance to speak as he was preparing for the trip her and her husband were about to go on. They have a caravan and tehy were going camping somewhere (I forget). They left soon after she'd arrived. We were left alone to finish our work.

We finished writing all the information, but it was getting late and we had to get going. There was no time for shopping as it would take me over an hour to get home and Pauline had to go to her mum's house for the night. I've not been there yet, but maby one day. We'll see.

The journey home was uneventful, even more so than on the way to her house. I didn't get lost this time! I almost got lost when I was attempting to find the second RER train. Turns out it was on the other side of the tracks.. I felt like an idiot.

From the St-Germain station I walked the 20 minutes home. It was a beautiful night and I enjoyed the fresh air. Plus I had no heels on so I didn't die! I got home just after seven. I was getting hungry and was happy to find we'd be eating soon. We were having gnocchi, for the second time that day for me. Not that I'm complaining one bit, definately not. I love gnocchi.

On Saturday I woke up around 11a.m., but I stayed in bed for a little longer, thinking about stuff. Just random thoughts running through my head. With a sigh I got up to eat breakfast and have a shower.

During the night Camille had arrived. I saw her car on the driveway when I wen to the kitchen to grab a bite to eat. Plus her door was closed, which isn't too uncommon, but very often it's cracked at teh very least.

I spent few hours after lunch on the computer before I had to leave, at about four thirty, for Pauline's for her (late) birthday party. Her birthday was over a month ago now. But I'm glad he had it late! I understood more of what was going on! I'm getting ahead of myself.

Daniéle drove us to a near-by station as some tracks were closed for reparations. we got there with ten minutes to spare, so we sat (Marie stood) at the station, chatting. The train came and just as it was leaving we saw Aude, a friend of Marie and PAuline's, run for the train and just miss it! The next one came in almost an hour! I felt for her, her having to wait for ages to catch the next train to Paris.

The journey passed relatively quickly and we were soon getting off at the last stop.  We had to catch another train in order to get to Pauline's. Leonie caught up with us on the train. The second train ride didn't take very long either and we soon arrived and met up with Pauline, Anaïse and Tiana (I think it was). We waited a few minutes and were joined by Antoine A. and Michael (aka Michou). Then we headed off to the shop to buy snacks. Soon after we had arrived Manon called to say she was at the station and if someone could come and get her. We left the guys and Anaïse and Tiana to do the shopping and went to get Manon. After we met up with her we headed back to the shop to see what the guys had bought. Mainly it was just Red Bull, crisps and sweets. YUMMY!

We walked to Pauline's house where there were a few other people waiting for us. There was Jordan, Marie V. and Céline. They had warmed up the pizzas for everyone and had gotten the place ready. Once we arrived we got the snacks out and got the party started. Music and chatting. Half an hour in Aude and Joachim called to say he was almost at the station. Pauline, Marie and Leonie left the rest of us to go and get them.

A long while later Leonie and Aude joined us. Marie and Pauline stayed to wait for Joachim's bus to arrive and eventually they arrived, too.

As the night went on games were played, music was playing the whole time and dancing took place. The last game we played before Marie, Aude and Leonie left was poker. I was playing with Jordan as he didn't know how to play, but I think he pretty much knows how to play it now. I let him make most of the decisinos and only helped out if he asked or I thought he needed advice. We ended up winning (we didn't finish the game as it would've take too long, so we counted up the winnings, well, looked at the piles and ours was obviously the biggest.).

Everyone else, excluding Tiana stayed over for the night. Joachim and Manon were teh only ones to get any real sleep. I didn't even attempt to. The night passed too fast as we were having so much fun! We palyed a role play game before anyone even thought of sleeping. At first I didn't understand what teh heck was going on, but I got it in the end and had a great time.

We stayed up talking throughout hte night. Well, I was listening and Antoine made fun of me, but I'm not that bothered. He's a fantastic guy, even though he did that poke/tickle thing that guys seem to like to do. Anyone know what I'm on about? So I obviously had to get him back for it, didn't I?

A lot of giggling went on during the night and a lot of place switching. It was interesting to watch. I took some pictures, but more than that I took videos of people dancing. It was fun.

In the morning at around 8 a.m. Marie, Céline and Antoine went to the near-by boulangerie to get some breakfast. We had croissants or pain du chocolat. I had a croissant, as I can't eat anything too sweet in the morning. It was yummy as it was freshly made and still slightly warm. Miam as the French say.

After that people started leaving, really. I was among the last to leave along with Michou, Antoine and Anaïse. We walked, they talked, I said a few words. It was, all in all, a fun journey. All the people I met this weekend were really nice and I'm happy I met them. We parted with bisous (naturally) and saying maby we'll see again. Anaïse took the bus and Antoine and Michou took another.

I got on the train, a little confused as to where exactly I was going. Thankfully Daniéle had sent me a message telling me how to get home as she wasn't sure if the tracks were open to traffic yet. I missed my connection as I hesitated a few seconds too long and ended up having to wait 20 minutes for the next train in the windy and rainy, barely covered station. I lived through it and caught the next train.

I got off at the last stop and went to find the last train. I had to wait another 10 minutes for it to ariive and a further five for it to leave the station. Before getting on I bought a Bounty bar as I was hungry. I've not had a Bounty in a LONG time, so it felt goooood to bite into the crunchy chocolate and dig into that coconut filling. It felt satisfying. Plus I was starting to get a bit of a head ache from not sleeping. :S

I almost nodded off on the previous train and I was worried it might happen again. Bounty helped, I believe, to help me stay awake.

Daniéle cam and picked me up at the station and I was glad to get in the warm car and relax. She asked about the night and I told her I'd had a fantabulous time.

We ate fondue once we got home, with the exception of Marie who doesn't like the "individual pots". She had steak and couscous. I, on the other hand, finished the whole thing and would've had more if there had been more. But I was definately full, even though I could've eaten more.

After lunch I spent some time on the computer watching Family Guy on the internet until I thought I was going to fall asleep on the computer. I decided it was time to hit the sack for an hour. So I set my alarm clock for four.

All I remember is that I woke up at five thirty, refreshed and not tired. I went to join Marie and Daniéle in the livingroom where they were watching TV (surprise). The rest of the night passed calmly and I hit the sack around 12 a.m.

I woke up just after 11, blinking. It was pitch black so blinking didn't help. I fell out of bed and headed for breakfast. I had very little, as I knew we'd be having lunch soon enough. A banana and some cereals. Delicious.

I cannot remember what I did on Monday, so it must've been another lazy day, filled with computer and starting the Agronomy project

I remember waking up at 11 or so yeaterday, too, but that's pretty much all that happened unti about 1845 when Émilie came to pick me up to do sports. We arrived just in time.

The first part of the session was easy. It was cardio, a bit like dancing, really, and that's how I took it. We had a short routine, very simple but a lot of fun. And good exercise!

The second part was muscle training. We used a medicine ball sized ball filled with air to do all the exercises. It was HORRIBLE! But I felt good afterwards. My muscles are a bit sore, but not too much so.

I had dinner and watched telly until one a.m. - not a good idea, but I was watching a show about out of contro teens whose parents get a "big brother" to come and make them behave. It was pretty interesting and fun to watch. Kind of horrifying, though! It's the parent's fault for not having any boundries!

Today I woke up just before 12 p.m. I was surprised as I had put my alarm to ring for 10. I don't remember hitting the snooze button oddly enough!

We were supposed to go to la Château de Versailles, but the friend of Daniéle's who was supposed to come with us couldn't make it, so we're going another time.

Tonight we had salad and salty crêpe-type rolls filled with goat's cheese and tomatoes. Delicious! Plus créme burlée for dessert. Doubly delicious!

Tomorrow is school.. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, but not so much for the classes. Thursdays pretty much suck a**.

On Saturday I was invited to join Pauline and most of the rest of the people from the party to go to a fun faire. Of course I accepted! It'll be a blast!

I have to stop now as the laptop is runnung out of battery on me and I'm really tired, but more to come tomorrow. Naturally! Sorry it was a week without entries.. I've been busy and/or tired! Bsxx

Day 60-62 - Parc Astérix, Carrefour and Shopping

On Monday Marie, Pauline, Daniéle and I went to Parc Astérix. Now, I have to say, I'm not a fan of comic books and therefor not a huge Asterix fan, but I genuinely LOVED the park! All the rides were SO much better than Disneyland. Or anywhere else I've been for that matter.. I definately want to go there again!

There was this ride Pauline and I went on thrice (can't remember what it's called) that we both loved! I lost an earring on the first time in one of the loops. The ride is basically just seven loops one after the other. It's bloody awsome! I was pissing my pants before the first time, but I had the BEST time. After getting off the ride you do feel kind of dizzy and light-headed, but who cares!

Daniéle and I went to see the dolphin show. It was pretty good, but there was a lot of talking, not that much dolphin tricks, like you might expect. I find it was better when I watched a similar performance in Finland last summer.. Oh well. They did have a baby dolphin, which was sweet.

Another ride that was fantastic was some Zeus ride. It was crazy! I had my hads up for most of the ride, but everyone else, excluding two/three guys at the very front. Pauline couldn't believe I had my hands up most of the ride. She, like everyone else, was gripping the bars, holding on for dear life. I wanted to go again, but we left pretty much right after. It was only four thirty..

Yesterday Daniéle and I went food shopping in Carrefour. It's a big chain that sells everything. I enjoy going there, even though I end up buying junk food every time I go there. I found these nice boots (heeless) there for 22€. I didn't get them because the quality didn't seem that good. But they were awsome.

Today I went shopping in the centre of town. I walked around for a few hours, going into shops and quickly walking out when I saw the prices. It's insanely expensive here. They have designer shops more than normal high street shops. They have a few and I found some things that I'd have like to have bought, but they were too expensive for my budget. I did end up buying a cardigan and a T-shirt form Mango. I love Mango.

I found awsome jeans form Promod, but they had no price tag, so I didn't know how much they were and I wasn't bothered to ask anyone or go in search for another pair.. Maybe another time.. Peut-être.

There are a lot of shops in which I found nice T-shirts, hoodies or shoes, but they were all too expensive. I'd have loved to have bought a Little Miss Sunshine T-shirt, but it waqs 49€! WAY too much for a T-shirt!

We had fake Tiramisú today. Daniéle makes the best raspberry Tiramisú in the world!

Tomorrow we're going shopping, Daniéle, Marie, Émilie and I. I'm not sure where, but we're making it an outing, leaving at nine tomorrow morning and coming back in the evening. I'm looking forward to it. I like shopping too much! :S

Occasionally I come up with the funniest jokes(in my oppinion), but I can't tell anyone because no one will understand! It's frustrating.. Maybe I'll add them here if I don't forget them by the end of the day! *i find it fun to watch the guys in my class juggle.. something about guys playing with balls facinates me. take from that what you will.*

Day 57-59 - Holiday, Theatre and Pauline

On Friday the holiday finally started! Our last "lesson" of the day was Pluri, but instead we had a presentation on the trip the terminale class went on. It was boring, I have to say, but I guess they had fun.

I had mixed feelings as I walked down the path along side Marie. I'd miss everyone at school but I have things planned that I'm excited about. We met up with Antoine V. and Vincent at the bus stop, which was packed. The bus arrived and we were the last to get on, so Vincent decided to walk rather than wait for the next bus. He had his guitar case with him, so it wouldn't have fit on the bus even if he had wanted it to, the bus was so packed! We were squashed the whole way. Antoine barely managed to squeeze out of the bus at his stop with all his bags (he lives at the school during the week so he had like a suitcase and two bags with him!).

Yesterday we went to the theatre to watch a play. It was funny and I really enjoyed myself, especially as I understood most of what was going on. It had some French humour which I didn't (fully) understand, but I undestood most of it.

I was wearing my boots with the 7 or so cm heel and my feet were killing me form walking so fast to keep up with Marie, Daniéle and Daniéle's friend. They walk fast, which is no problem in trainers, but in heels it's torture! I love the boots, though! And my feet are fine now!

Today, around six p.m. Pauline came over. She's staying the night. We're going to Parc Asterix tomorrow and she's coming along. Which is cool. Apparently there are a lot of water slides at teh park.. So I'm taking another pair of trousers along with me. And a jacket I'm borrowing from my host-family.

We did Sudoku's all night. It was fun. I also learnt that I can mostly read the French texting lingo. It's not too difficult, all you have to do is read it out loud (in your head, if you can!) and you've got it. Some things I didn't understand because of vocabulary, but I understood the word it represented, if you will. It was fun because Pauline was texting with a friend and I got to read all the messages. I really want to learn the sms langue though I don't use (almost wrote utilise.. which would be directly from French..) it in English or Finnish.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow! I have to get some zzz's, so peace out y'all!

Day 53-56 - Sorry and Back to School!

Sorry it's been so many days, I've just been lazying around, doing nothing at home for the past three days. Nothing interesting happened during them.. I was sick, so I stayed home for the days neccessary. I was ready to go to school yesterday, but Daniéle said I should stay homw for one more day, just in case. In case of what?! Well, there have been a lot of absences in school this week, I hear. There were 17 people missing in one class and 22 in another! It's crazy. I've never heard anything like it!

So today I finally went back to school and was asked about ten times if I was ok. When Olivier and Antoine walked in, Olivier didn't even realise I was there until Antoine said hi to me, Olivier asked me if I was ok, and why I was back in school! I was astonished. What had I done for him to hate me suddenly? Turns out he just wanted to go home. The school might've been shut down if half the people were at home, sick. Well, sorry Olivier, no-can-do for my part!

I loved being back at school, playing Tarot (after a week of not being able to!) and eating yummy-scrummy food! We had potato(e)s and broccoli. Plus bread and cheese. Plus yoghurt. And a fruit. We also had salad.  I was told I could take extra yoghurt and cheese if I wished to. I politely declined, as I already hat too much on my tray (my oppinion, the French don't agree!). Now, read that list and tell me how the French aren't the fattest nation in Europe (UK)/the world (USA?)! Seriously, I really, truly wonder sometimes. Has to be down to genes.

Today I went to the Spanish class after my school had officially ended. It was pretty boring. They got their tests back and were going over vocabulary. The teacher's name is Lacoste (:D) and his accent, even to me, a non-Spanish speaking person, sounded horrible! He can't pronounce the 'r' for one thing. Plus the lisp doesn't help.. :S He kind of got on my nerves and I'm glad I don't have his classes!

I got home just before seven but not before Daniéle called me to enquire about my whereabouts. I was 20 minsutes form home at that stage.

Tonight we ate fondue (Daniéle and I) with carrots, cauliflower adn bread cubes. One word : DELICIOUS! How I love it! So unhealthy yet so satisfying! Je t'aime, fondue!

Day 50/51/52 - Juggling and I'm Sick Again!

On Friday school started at 10:00 for a change. I was SO glad to have the extra two hours of sleep. Camille drove me to school as she was going the same way anyway. It was so much nicer sitting in a car than waiting for the bus in the freezing cold. Well, it's not freezing but it IS getting cold. I need to buy a hat and gloves soon, I think.

After lunch Antoine V. taught me the basic technique to juggling. It's hard! But a lot of fun. It's kind of awkward when everyone is watching but I tried to ignore everyone. WOrked fine until Olivier came and sat right in fron to of me and stared at me the whole time. I got a some of videos of Antoine and Olivier juggling. They're both good but Antoine is better as he's been practicing for longer. I have to get juggling balls! Juggling is addictive, I tell you.

After school Marie and I were practicing with tennis balls, but it's even more difficult because they bounce off each othere and are hard! Eventually Daniéle joined in, too. She caught on really fast! We were both jealous when we just explained what to do and she pretty much got it! Lucky!

Yesterday we were juggling for hours! I'm getting better.. It's my first time juggling, so Ifind it hard to release teh balls at the right time! Or then they bounce off each other.. If I had juggling balls..! I can do a trich with one ball where you roll it from your palm down and flick your elbow up so the ball bounces and then you catch it. It's pretty easy and I can get it 99% of the time now! I started off with three balls, but I'm also practicing two balls in one hand. It's easier, but not easy, in my oppinion! I will practice every day to get it by Christmas! Then Antoine can teach me some tricks. Hahaa.

Today I woke up and my cough has gotten worse. It startes as little, insignificant coughs every now and then, but now it's a full blown, almost cough-attack kind of cough. My throat isn't sore, but it will be by the end of the day I'm guessing. :S

For lunch we had cauliflower and potatos with white sauce. It was yummy, but I couldn't eat much as I wasn't very hungry. We had Chocolate Covered Banana Pie for dessert. It was DE-licious! But agan, I had the tiniest slice possible.

My muscles hurt whenever I do anything, like lift a book or type anything on th ekeyboard or even when I breathe or blink something or other hurts. I can't stretch with out getting teary eyed. Plus I have a killer headache, like my head will explode at any minute! I doubt I'm doing sports tomorrow, but I will be going to school because I have no fever.. It's so annoying because I rarely get a fever.. I mean it's good, but I have no real reason to stay home from school.. But I'll manage. I'll take pain killers to school, just in case!

We have three exams next week : Biology, Civics and French.. I'm not looking forward to the Biology, but the other two I think I can somehow handle.. It'll be hard but I will aim for five or abouve on all subjects from now on! I'll be happy with a five as the subjects we have.. Well I'm not very good at any of them. I'm more into languages and Psychology, not scientific subjects!

The other day, I was babysitting 6 year old twins. One of them was telling me how she recently became a vegetarian. I curiously asked her why, since no one else in her family is adverse to eating meat. She calmly and seriously replied, "because, when animals take over the world in the future, I don't want them to eat me." Best reason I've ever heard. MLIA

Day 48/49 - Cold Weather and Hot Water Bottles

Yesterday we had a short day for a change. It felt goooood! I had no UNSS (the optional basketball) because the teacher is in Germany for the week. As a result of that, we had no sports today! YAY.

I was about to take my sports kit with me, but I gave up on the idea right before we left.

School was pretty much the norm. Just a shorter version of Monday and Tuesday.

Today was FREEZING! I was wearing a long cardigan and a long hoodie, so I was ok. When we got to school everyone else waas freezing, while I changed out of my cardigan and just wore the hoodie for the rest of the day.

After a filling lunch of couscous and ratatouille (of which I ate half.. They hand out HUGE portions!), baguette and cheese, salad and a yoghurt, we played Tarot for a change. I haven't played it for a few days and I'm feeling deprived! I think I may be addicted to more than just Facebook! :S

Today I sat, for the last three lessons, at the back of the room, compared to the first row I usually sit at. I think I may sit there form now on. It's more fun! You hear more of what goes on during lessons when people aren't listening to the teacher! Plus I was asked by Chloé to sit with her tomorrow. I couldn't refuse as she sits by herself in the second to last row. She's not always alone, but a few people are absent and there are spare places.

I'm going to learn to juggle tomorrow! Antoine V. promiced to teach me. He's really good. I'm slightly jealous, but I promis€ed myself I'd learn soon. And I will! Now it's in writing I have to keep it! Unless I don't post this, in which case I don't have to. But evidently I felt like I needed to, so I will keep the promise!

Camille is here for tonight (and last night) with Pilou, her rabbit (see Facebook), while Daniéle's away to sort out the appartment she bought some weeks ago. And pick oput tiles. She'll be back tomorrow. Anyway. Back to Pilou. She's all hyper today, running and jumping around and being naughty. Eating the plants is ok, but going into the corners and chewing wires is, evidently, unacceptable. I got some very cute pictures of her. She's extremely cuddly, but jumpy!

Day 47 - I gotta stop counting days I've been here..

Today I woke up at 0800! It was heaven! I slept for eight hours for a change, which kind of made me feel tired.. :S The first class of teh day was cancelled and the second was a skip, so I got to stay in bed for an hour and a half longer than usual. It felt nice except I woke up when Marie got up.. But then I fell asleep again. Bliss.

I lunched with John, Antoine, Olivier, Clementine and Chloé today. We ahd bananas.. You can guess how that went down! John ate only 11 bananas at the table, but got two other babanas from someone a little later.

After lunch We played Tarot and listenend to music and took pictures. It was fun. There is a video of Antoine playing Tarot for eight minutes. It's not that interesting as nothing happens, but the music is good! :D IT's on Facebook.. Along with pictures and a few other random videos..

We've gotten some tests back and my scores have been.. better than I expected! I got 8.5/20 for Maths, 3.25/20 for Chemistry (and 8/15 for a smaller quiz), 7/20 for Biology (I was surprised as I hadn't had time to finish it! It was missing all the text and a big part of the drawing, but I got almost full points for it!). I think we may be getting our Agronomy tests back tomorrow.. I'm not sure what to expect. I'm not too bothered, though. I was a little nervous about the Biology, which went surprisingly well. We ahve another, written, exam for Biology next week.. :S I'll live but I won't pass (10 is a pass)! Normally I doubt I'd care but the teacher kind of scares me..! He's.. I dunno.. I want to do good but it's close to impossible with all the new vocabulary coming in every few seconds!

I realised I'm starting to get the hang of writing down what I'm supposed to if the teacher speaks slow enough. It's cool, really. Today in Biology I got some things when the teacher read out loud what we were supposed to write, and it helped when Olivier read out some of the stuff, slowly. I'm getting there!

Today we had step. It was torture, but the good kind! I feel refreshed and peaceful now, but very tired! And tomorrow (was gonna write demain!) my muscles will be killing me, but I think I may take an aspirin to school with me just in case!

Hitting the sack now, but more to come tomorrow!

Day 46 - Photos

I haven't ran in two weeks and my lungs are killing me as I jog on. I feel a striking pain in my side. A stitch. Fantastic. Now I get to walk the rest of the way, but my score will suck bad.

I'm almost at the finish line, last because of the stitch, when the teacher came to meet me. I told him I had a stich and couldn't finish. He was ok with it, thankfully. He's a bit nicer than our other sports teacher. Which is cool.

So I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to start taking pictures in school, but it turned out to be great fun! At first everyone was kind of "get away from me!" and "no pictures!", but in the end even Olivier warmed up to the camera. Kind of. I took pictures during Agronomy, being bored as I was. Plus we were outside, so I thought what the hey. The teacher didn't mind even though she caught me taking a picture. She actually suggested that we take a photo of the earth we were looking at.. So we did and we didn't have to draw it, which is always cool.

The guys (Antoine, Olivier and Vincent) ended up messing about taking videos. VERY entertaining. Some people (Joachim) refused to let me take his picture. He said on the last day of school, but tomorrow..!

We had an Agro test today, which went better than the other tests so far, excedpt for maths, which I got 8.5/20 in! I'm happy! I didn't understand two questions and I was sure I'd get five points maximum! I got full points for the first question, I'm proud to say. :D

Today I had Stretching. It was so nice and relaxing after this morning's torture and the half an hour intense muscle training right before it. I yawned about 20 times in an hour and a half! Insane I tell you! But extremely relaxing.

I haven't finished any homework for tomorrow, but I decided I don't care right now. I'm just going to brush my teeth, wash my face and hit the sack! J'adore!

Day 44/45 - Notes and Chestnuts

On Friday I decided I would sleep in, but I woke up at nine! I was annoyed. I got up, showered and had brakfast. I made notes for Agronomy, as we have the test tomorrow. I'm proud of them because they're all nice and colourful! Other than that it was a very uninteresting day.

Today I woke up at 20 to ten. I went back to sleep and finally got up at about 11, I guess, about the same time Daniéle and Marie left for the confirmation of a friend of Marie's, Blondine (she also happens to be blonde!). I know her too, but there was no space at the church, so I got to skip it. I'm relieved, as I'm not a fan of churches!

I stayed at home, on the computer. I think I may have facebook addiction..! :S I'm limiting it, somewhat, but At home alone there isn't much to do!I got bored in the end and took an hour's nap after lunch. I had leftovers. They were gooooood!

Today I decided to treat myself. I bought an iPod Touch! I've wanted one for a while, so I decided "I have money, why not?!" I'm so excited! It has a 64GB memory. It was under 400 € with free delivery, so I thought what the heck! I'll get more music anyway! And I can watch videos, surf the net (wi-fi), and a lot more stuff! The only thing is I gotta get iTunes now.. I'm not a fan, but I'll live.

The rest of the day was, just like yesterday, uneventful, but this evening we roasted chestnuts! In out fireplace! <3>

Tomorrow we may or may not have sports. Marie doesn't, but I'm not sure. Neither is Chloé, who asked me if we do on MSN. I hope we don't, but then again I could go to school for 10:30 if I knew for sure!

Today while taking a three hour drive to a business meeting, I stopped in a near-by gas station for a candy bar. Wearing a trench coat and sunglasses, a young boy came up to me, tugged on the bottom of my coat, and asked, "Mr., Are you in the C.I.A.?" I slyly responded with, "Son, I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you." He ran and told his mother with the happiest, most surprised expression I have ever seen. MLIA

Today, I typed "if I ate" into google. It came up with "if I ate myself would I be twice as big or disappear completely". I didn't even bother to check yahoo. MLIA

Day 43 - Basketball and Failing Exams <3

On yesterday's blog I forgot to mention that I think I may have joined the school's girls' basketball team! That was after I thought I broke my nose. It didn't even bleed after someone knocked their arm in my face, and the nose being all sticky-outy it naturally took the blow. I continued playing, after a minute's break. I wasn't hurt, really, my nose was just slightly uncomfortable and breathing wasn't comfortable either. But I'm fine.

Today we had the Economics test last thing. I'm getting max. 3 points because I couldn't answer most of the questions, plus there was some definitions, too, of which I tried to explain one.. Instant fail on all five tests this week! (I think it's five..) On monday I have an Agronomy test, which will certainly be interesting.. We'll see how that works out.. I'll study, of course, but it ain't easy. I'm expecting no more than a five for each test (note that it's out of 20..!).

Today was a slow day. We had Agro Equipment in the morning. While everyone else was taking notes I was thinking about random stuff and talking to a few people. It's so bizarre only having two guys in our class, Olivier and Vincent, as we are split into two for some classes. I don't see the point but whatever works, eh?

After we had History-Geo, of which we have Geo. It's the same teacher that we have for History, so it's just as boring and hard to follow as History was. I'm glad that's over! Nothing interesting happened.. Just boring old class.

Aprés nous avons eu la Francais (where is that little squiggly thing for the C?! I can't find it on the keyboard!). We're doing poetry and it's just as horrible in French as it it in English or Finnish! Plus I don't understand half teh things we're talking about.. :S But the teacher's nice.. Très sympa.

For lunch I ate practically nothing. I would've eaten more (I'm glad I didn't have the choice, though!) but there wasn't very much to offer.. The food had fish in it, so I got this pattie instead. It was dégueulasse, disgusting. It was really sweet when I sat down and Antoine V. asked if that was all I was going to eat, and I answered yes. He was insisting I'd be hungry after eating it. I pointed out I had bread and two bananas, too. He just shook his head. I explained that there were no other options as I happen to be vegetarian. He was, like everyone else, surprised.

So the pattie was inedible and all I had for lunch was the baguette and two bananas. I ate about two bits of the pattie.. But I wasn't very hungry anyway, even though I had had no breakfast (I woke up 20 mins before I had to leave so there was no time to eat - I had to wash my hair..!). Well, I had two biscuits before French but that's practically nothing. They were yummy, though. John ate 14 bananas, a new record for him, I think. Now that, if anything, is dégueulasse! I don't understand it and I plan not to ever understand being able to eat 14 bananas in a row!

Right after lunch we had the test. The teacher mad Olivier and Antoine move their table to the very front of the classroom (no idea why) and a little over half way through the test I look over and see both Antoine and Olivier are done with their tests. Catching Antoine's eye I raise my eyebrow. He just shrugs. I think they sat there for about 15 mins, doing nothing, before the teacher let them go.

We caught the same bus as Antoine V., Vincent and a few other people and I asked Antoine about the test and he said he finished quick but he failed. I think he said he guessed most of them, or went through them quickly..

Tonight Daniéle's best friend, Sandrine, came over and dined avec nous. She's really nice. I've met her once before, but now I understood more about what the dinner conversation was about.

I haven't bees sleeping too much lately, but it's worked for me, sleeping less than seven hours/night. I'm tired now, though and I think I won't put the alarm clock on for tomorrow. I'll sleep in and relax tomorrow. And  study a little! Wish me luck! Je aimez-vous!

Day 42 - Tryo, Tarots and Entertainment

I was going to go to school for nine, but I changed my mind right before going to sleep, so I went to school like normal. I'm glad I did, because I did some revising and chatting with people. And play Tarot. :D I'm obsessed! Whenever there are people playing, I'm pretty much there! Unless I'm listening to good music! Or then I do both..

I was studying during breaks (kinda) for the tests we had today. We only had two, but we have another tomorrow. Economics in French! Ouch :S The tests could've gone way better, but i spent half the time translating my thoughts into French or the questions from French to English. It's hard! I got almost half done for Chemistry and the first question for Agro Equipment.. But practically everyone said Agro Equipment went so-so or crap.. But I will defiantely use the "I don't speak French yet!" -excuse for another few months, because French is hard, it is!

After lunch, which was yummy and I ate too much :S I wondered over to Olivier, listening to music, and Antoine, "studying" for Chemistry, aka doodling. There were a few Tarot games going on, but I decided to study and listen to good music (in this case Oasis and Bob Marley). I've started listening to different music while here, groups like Tryo, Bob Marley (not a group, but I listen to him!) and Oasis along with The Prodigy, Daft Punk, etc. I love that I have the cable-parter-thing so I can listen to music at the same time as someone else. It's very handy!

I'm obsessed with Tryo at the mo, and I really have to get their albums!! Plus it's good to listen to French music!

At some point Olivier and Joachim got in a fight. Well paly fight. I was just confusedly (a new word? I really doubt it really is one..) left sitting there holding Olivier's mp3 and headphones. I think the play fight was something to do with Olivier putting his feet on Joachim's chair.. They're such guys! But generally really sweet. I love it.

So the tests were one ofter the other, with no time to study in between. Not that it would've helped.. The first test, Chemistry, went pretty crap.. I'll be happy with three points (out of 20!).. I hate chemistry in general, so now that I'm here, I actually have to study chemistry! Argh. The second test was Agro Equipment, which went just as bad. I answered the first question in about 30 minutes, and started on the third (skipping the second). I got one sentence down when we ran out of time. I hope I got a few pity points or something!

After the Agro Equip test we had Maths, but the teacher never showed up. We had entertainment, though, while waiting for the teacher who never showed up. Not that I mind. Back to the entertainment. Olivier and Vincent started sining and dancing to some French songs. It was very entertaing. We got a good laugh out of it.

Usually when a teacher doesn't show up I go straight home, but today I stayed and played Tarot for another hour and a half or so. J'adore, like I mentioned before! I need to get a pack of Tarot. It's a matter of life or death! Not reallt, but it might as wel be! I've no idea how I will survive when I return to Finalnd! :S Someone promice to play Tarot with me?! Well, you need three-five players.. S.T.P.?!

When we finally left it was raining bucket fulls! My trousers were practically clinging to my calves and thighs. Not too comfortable.. But I did get to use my pretty new umbrella! <3

Day 39/40/41 - Four Hour Skip, Tests and I'm Pretty

On Monday we had a four hour skip in the morning! I could've stayed in bed until 11:30! Lunch ends at 13:45, so I could've gone to school for 15 to two. But then again..

We had a lot of fun playing Tarots for about two hours. Time goes by too fast when you're having fun! I hate it. I think I've mentioned it before, but they love playing cards in France, esp. Tarot. I love it too because I so rarely get to play when I'm at home!

After the second hour Pauline and I went to the library, where I studied for the maths test we had later that day. I feel it went ok, but it was impossible for me to do one of the questions because I didn't understand it and I kinda ran out of time. Pauline and Clémentine (accent may be in th ewrong place but what evs..) started on their projects for Agronomy. I have yet to start mine..

It's so strange here, I feel, having to sign in two places if you want to go study in the library instead of "Perm". I was baffled when Pauline told me. They're very strict about things like walking in the halls here.. It's bizarre. (I've started using bizarre for everything. Or then  everything's cute, if it's not bizarre! Plus bizarre means the same thing in French and English, so it's easy to remember when I speak French!)

Yesterday we had a double skip, again. And again, we played Tarot! For the last half an hour/hour we did more "intellectual" stuff (direct quote form Olivier, who btw has the clearest blue eyes I've ever seen! Plus he's adorable and very French.). I read chemistry, again, for a while but then I kind of wondered over to Antoine R. (we have two Antoines, and two Camilles), who was listening to music. I somehow ended up listening to it instead of him (don't ask, I have NO idea). He listens to electro, which I love, so all was well. I did kind of feel bad about me listening to his music. I did get my divider-cord-majig so we could both listen, but he didn't feel like listening or something.

Lunch was unedible yesterday, although everyone else seemed to enjoy it, though. Sometimes I wish I ate meat, but then I remember why I don't. But that only happens when the food is inedible. We had no yoghurt, but instead we had dessert - doughnuts. John was practically drooling to eat mine, and I had to keep it a safe distance away from him. I was just finishing my bread when he left, and he missed the opportunity to actually get to eat it. Him not being there, I offered it to Olivier who'd mentionned earlier that he loved doughnuts. I thought why not, I don't want to eat it and it's a waste otherwise.

I sat with people I don't often sit with, but I liked the change. People actually spoke to me for a change. Mostly John, but Olivier, too. I've noticed that if you ask, esp. guys, something, they will answer and the conversation goes from there, but they seem unwilling to be the one to start up a conversation. But then again they had sauce to go with it. Especially Olivier. If I ask him something he starts explaining his opinion and he genuinely seems interested in what others have to say. Antoine V. doesn't really speak very much in general. He does answer if I ask him a direct question. I think it's just the language barrier and I'm hoping he'll talk more when I can understand more. He's a nice guy, though.

I try to talk to everyone, but there are people who just don't seem to want to talk with me. Or then I get treated like a retard and people speak slow and loud. Plus when I say "quoi" or "comment", people often switch to English, even though I may not have heard what they said or something. I try to get them to repeat in French, but sometimes that doesn't work.. But people are really nice here, in general.

After lunch we palyed (you guessed it!) Tarot. At first it was just Olivier, Antoine, Joachim and I, but a little later on Lucile was also convinced into playing. I think it was her first time, or among her first times. She watches a lot, though.

In the evening we, Émily and I, had.. Umm.. Yeah.. I don't know what to call it. It's marked as Renfo, so I think that's what I'll call it.. So we had Renfo last night. It's muscle training, basically, so now my muscles are all sore! I love it, but I also hate it! It feels awsome to stretch but otherwise it's a bit of an inconvenience. On our way there this pizza delivery guy stopped us and said something, directed at me. I asked Émily and she said he called me pretty. I just rolled my eyes. It's about the fifth time here I've been called pretty, etc. while I've been here. It's strange. He also offered us free pizza or something.. I was confused. He did leave us alone after a little chat with Émily.

Today I lunched with John and Antoine V., and Vincent, who came in a little later. I did a lot more talking today than usual. And I even got Antoine to talk a bit more. Vincent is very talkative and we had an actual conversation. It was nice cos he treats me like a normal person. Plus his English is pretty good, so if I didn't understand something, he could explain it in English more often than not. Plus we had John there to translate some things. Which is always nice. He talks a heck of a lot, though, so it's hard to have a conversation with anyone else if he's around..

After Antoine V. left we were joined by a number of other people, of whom I knew Antoine R. He has a twin. It's pretty bizarre. They look the same if you just have a glance, but sitting next to each other it's easy to tell who is who. Neither of them speak English, but I did exchange a few words with them. They're awsome guys, just like everyone else.

After school I decided to walk home instead fo waiting for the second bus for 15 mins. (I got home by the time the bus would've arrived) So I was walking along, minding my own business an dlistening to music and this Moroccan guy stops me and asks me something. I take off my head phones and ask him to repeat. He calss me pretty and wants to have a chat. He asks me where I'm from because I say I son't speak much French. Switching to broken English he asks for my name, age, where I live, what school I go to, etc. I make up and excuse and head off, fearing he may follow. I glance back after walking for a bit and nobody is following me, thankfully. I sigh in relief.

Today would normally be Pilates, but Émily can't make it and I have to study for the three exams we have tomorrow, so I'm not bothered to walk the 20 mins there.. So today is just relaxing/studying.. I have three tests tomorrow.. :S Economics, Chemistry and Agro Equipment. Wish me luck!

*Note: I think I confuse days unless I blog!*

Day 37/38 - Lazy Weekend and les Controles!

Everyone's been asking me how I feel for the past few days. I FEEL FINE, PEOPLE! But seriously, that fainting thing wasn't anything serious. I have to check if my travel insurance covers going to see a specialist, and if it does, I might as well go. There's no harm in finding out for sure that nothing is wrong with me, is there?

This weekend was very chill. I had no homework and nothing to do. It was kind of bliss after the more-than-hectic-enough Friday I had. We do, however, have les control(e?)s, a.k.a. tests next week. History (fail), Agro Equipment (fail) and Chemistry (fail). In that order, but with History on Wednesday and Agro Equipment and Chemistry both on Thursday. (I was bout to write jeudi, French for Thursday!!)

I'm trying to take it easy and not stress about them but I can't help wanting to do well on them! I hope the teachers remember my French is crap..! I was thinking if Chemistry goes ok this year, I could get a few courses out of it.. I've done the compulsory courses in Finland, but some extras won't hurt. Plus I'd have lsee courses to complete and I could drop Swedish!

I gotta get more time on my phone. It's so hard here! Plus I gotta get mine online, so its doubly difficult! Anyway, tomorrow's running and guess who's not looking forward to it! You guessed it. ME!

Day 36 - Ambulances and Paramedics

A fainting episode in undesirable when you're in a country you know, but even more so in a country you are new to and don't speak the language of. How do I know, you ask. The simple fact is I fainted on my way to school today(!).

Today I left for school on my own because Marie had already left, an hour earlier, out of habit, she says. I though today was going to be great! I was looking forward to it. But no, today had to turn into a mess.

I left my house at eight ten to catch the bus that goes at 25 past. I had difficulty with unlocking and locking the door, so I was happy the bus came a little late. I got on the bus as normal and everything was going fine until the final turn to the end stop. My vision started getting hazy and everything turened into a black adn white movie right before the bus stopped. I walked forward and everything went black. Right before the blackness, I remember thinking "Shit I'm fainting!"

I woke up some minutes later to people crowding around me. You know those fainting scenes in movies where the camera angle is the point of view of the fainter? Well it felt like one of those moments. And you know there's always that one person who says "Give her some space to breathe!" Well, it makes no difference whether there are a lot of people or a few people around you. You have air to breathe. You're disoriented and confused and have no recollection of what happened! I was listening to music and had my headphones on, so I know I was gone for no more than a few minutes maximum as it was the same song playing, still, when I woke up. Plus the bus I was supposed to catch had just left.

As I opened my eyes I was laying sideways with my bag next to my head. I bliked twice, confused. It had all seemed like a bad dream. I took off my headphones and heard people asking me if I was all right. I nodded, dazed and responded "Ouaih, ca va." As the crow began to thinnen I found a bus driver and the guy that makes sure the busses leave on time makeing sure I was ok. They were very kind and made me sit in a bus to warm up a little after sitting on the cold greound for some minutes.

Some minutes later I was taken to sit on a bench to wait for the paramedics. They arrived soon after and I was questionned (in Frenglish) about the date, my name and my health normally. Of the four paramedics one spoke English so he did most of the talking. I had only my school ID on me, but it seemed to be enough, thankfully.

I was taken to the ambulance and checked over. Everything was fine to my understanding. The youngest paramedic (still learning) did the check up. It was kind of nice, really, being checked over. The paramedic was extremely good looking and very nice (we'll call him Mr. Eye-Candy). After having checked my blood pressure, my pulse and my head for any cuts an older paramedic started to try to set me up with Mr. Eye-Candy. I just laughed. In my dreams, maybe, but I doubt in real life.Oh well.

We set off in the ambulance, sirens at blaring. It was the end of the rush hour and the traffic jams were thinning. There was still a huge line when we drove past my school on our way to the children's hospital in Poissy.

It being my first time in an ambulance I was facinated. I was in no pain and I thought being strappped to the gurney was a little over the top in my oppinion. The ride WAS a little bumpy and I had to keep sliding back against the back rest in order to be more comfortable. I turned around a few times to look at where we were heading.  It was strange recognising the surroundings. The ambulance in itself wasn't very interesting. There wasn't much to look at.

The female paramedic and Mr. Eye-Candy chatted about injuries (ironic, eh?). I listened to them for a while but mostly I stared at Mr. Eye-Candy or out the window.

We arrived at teh hospital some minutes later (10 maximum). They let me walk out, I was happy to find out, after being strapped to the gurney. Gurneys are awkward, I tell you! The hospital looked depressing form the outside, but inside the was clearly meant to be happy and was designed for children. The walls were bright green and the chairs a dull blue. Before the paramedics left, the one who spoke English aked me to say 'hello' in Finnish. So now he and the woman know how to say 'hello' and 'bye' in Finnish. I've also taught some Finnish to a few people in my class (beside the point but I thought I'd mention it anyway). The paramedics left me to go do their job. I actually liked having them as my paramedics! It was, which it may not normally have been, an enjoyable experience.

I was taken to the examining room after being asked a few questions. I had to undress and put on one of those robes you see in movies. They are extremely uncomfortable and your arse is half exposed. Awkward. My blood pressure was taken again. She also checked my blood sugar levels. They were a little high, but not too much so. I was left to wait for the doctor. She arrived a few minutes later. I was happy to find she spoke English! It would've been très dur tu explain what happened in French. My blood pressure was take AGAIN. She also checked my heart and lunchs and I was attached to an EKG machine. It was awkward because I had to take the robe off and have about ten stickers attached to my chest, feet and hands. Then I had to lay still for a minute. That wasn't too bad.

I got to get dressed again and that was the end of the tests. I went to the toilet while the doctor studied the EKG results. When she came back she told me I could get dressed and that everything was fine. There was no problem with anything and it was most likely just a fainting episode. Nothing serious, but if it happens again during this month she told me to search a specialist's help. I'm hoping I was just feeling stressed out or something and that it won't happen again. Fainting isn't unpleasurable in itself, but it's a little embarassing when it happens while out and about. Though it is better when it happens with people around. I'm glad I wasn't in the house when it happened! I would've been all by myself!

I had to wait an hour to get picked up by a friend of Daniéle's, Michelle. She's a nice old(ish) lady who was kind enough to come and pick me up not knowing who I was. Émilie would've been able to make it for one p.m. at the earliest, so it was arranged so that Michelle came to pick me up instead. She drove me home and soon after Émilie arrived and we had lunch together. She had to go and study, but she said to call her if anything happened or worried me. My host-mother had said the same thing. Everyone was really nice about the whole episode thing, and I even got a text form Pauline, also on behalf of Marie, about my whereabouts. I was at teh hospital when she texted so I had time toanswer and I was left in the room by myself quite a few times.

Apparnetly Marie was a nervous wreck when I didn't show up for school. I feel really bad about it! But she calmed down after she found out I was all right, I was happy to hear!

Camille came over for the weekend again. I'm guessing it's so that there's someone here to look after us, but I'm not sure.

Going to eat dessert now. Yoghurt <3
